Sip, Savour and Dig In!

St. Albert’s 6th Annual Food Festival Returns this Fall.

The City of St. Albert will host its sixth annual Dig In Food Festival, proudly presented by Averton Homes, September 12-18, 2019.  

The festival takes place at various venues throughout the city, providing attendees with an intimate, hands-on experience to connect with friends while celebrating the food of the St. Albert region. The variety of available workshops and culinary tours offers participants the chance to experience food in a whole new way.

The 2019 lineup for the Dig In Food Festival is as follows, and registration information is below:

Thursday, September 12 - Author Reading: Food Artisans of Alberta

Join Karen Anderson and Matilde Sanchez-Turri at the St. Albert Public Library (Forsythe Hall, Library, 5 St. Anne Street, St. Albert, AB) from 7 to 8 p.m. as they share their adventures through Alberta's food scene. Tickets are free for the author reading. Stay after for more conversation over dessert and wine. Tickets for a dessert and wine addon are $15.

Saturday, September 14 – Bread-Making Workshop

Become a bread wizard as you learn the tips and techniques of making an amazing loaf of bread, the no-knead way from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Little White School (2 Madonna Dr, St. Albert, AB). This is a hands-on class presented by Breadlove, so be sure to come prepared to have fun and learn. Tickets are $75.

Sunday, September 15 – Beef and Brews Workshop and Dinner

Start at D'Arcy's Meat Market (40 Chisholm Ave, St Albert, AB) to learn all about farming practices and to participate in a demonstration on taking down a side of beef. Next, move on to Endeavour Brewing (215 Carnegie Dr, St Albert, AB) for a brewery tour and a flight of beer. Afterwards, enjoy another flight of beer and a meal supplied by D'Arcy's Meat Market. Tickets are $75.

Monday, September 16 – Fairy Gardens and Wine Workshop

Grab your friends for a night of creative crafting and wine in this fun, fairy garden workshop from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Little White School (2 Madonna Dr, St. Albert, AB). Spend the evening playing in the dirt with the Wheelbarrow Gardener as you build a fairy garden masterpiece. Desserts will also be provided. Tickets are $60.

Tuesday, September 17 – Culinary Bike Tour

Work up an appetite to justify indulging in St. Albert’s epicurean delights! The tour starts at 6 p.m. at the Servus Place parking lot (400 Campbell Drive, St Albert, AB) where you’ll bike to D’Arcy’s Meat Market, Appetite Global Cuisine, Endeavour Brewing and Skybox Grill while enjoying each restaurant’s local cuisine along the way. The bike tour is approximately 3.5 km in length. Tickets are $65.

Wednesday, September 18 – Culinary Walking Tour

Join us on a walking tour as we visit four shops and sample their delectable, local offerings. Tour starts at 6 p.m. at Cranky’s Bike Shop (24 Perron St, St. Albert, AB) before heading on to Janos Café and Bistro, Jack’s Burger Shack, Cajun House and Confections Cake Co. This tour involves approximately 1 km of walking. Tickets are $65.
