Fall is in the Air
The cool fall breeze and falling leaves are upon us! It’s that time of year where most of us are preparing our yards (and ourselves!) for winter. The City of St. Albert can help by collecting your leaves at the curb during your regular waste pick up day.
Residents are asked to collect their leaves in paper yard waste bags this year and place them at the curb. Leaves in plastic bags are no longer accepted in the program for the first time. The ability to compost the paper bags is a positive step in the City’s effort to reduce plastics and single-use items in the community.
Leaves can also be put in reusable garbage cans or bins if they are the correct size (maximum size of 80 L or 21 gallons). As always, residents can also use their Green Organics Cart for yard waste or drop off their leaves off at the Compost Depot located on Villeneuve Road.
Yard waste bags can be purchased at local hardware stores and grocery stores. Don’t worry about bad weather – these bags are tough and can hold strong in the rain!
The first round of leaf pick-up starts in one short week – do your part to keep plastic bags out of the landfill!
Pick-Up dates for 2019:
Monday, September 30 to Friday, October 11
Monday, October 28 to Friday, November 8
