Royal Canadian Mounted Police
The RCMP, Canada's national police service, is committed to building a safe and caring environment through partnerships with our community. The service provides general duty policing to the City of St. Albert and also operates specialized units for Traffic, Crime Prevention/Victim Services, Drug Enforcement, Crime Reduction and General Investigation.
A Focus on the Community
The RCMP detachment is very active in the community. Our community initiatives include Auxiliary Constables, Victim Services, Citizens on Patrol, School Resource Officers, Crime Stoppers, Bike/Cart patrol (in the summer months), Neighbourhood Watch and DARE.
To address the root causes of crime, the Detachment has adopted the Asset Development philosophy. It also has many programs in place related to community safety, from youth development initiatives to drug awareness programs and traffic safety programs.
Fifty-six members of the RCMP work in the St. Albert detachment, along with ten community peace officers, thirty-one support staff, and other municipal employees and volunteers.
